Envelopes
The 2011 envelopes are here. Be sure that John knows which number you have. It is customary that envelopes for holy days and special costs are to be used in addition to your tithe. Thank you for you generosity that helps St. Athanasius parish be a vibrant community in central and southern Indiana.
All Souls Saturdays
There are five All Souls Saturdays during the year. On those Saturdays the morning Divine Liturgy is followed by a Panachida, in which the faithful departed of the parish families are remembered. The first is February 26. Please send any updates to the rectory office or place the form in the collection basket. You don’t have to submit a new form if nothing has changed since last year. Since we are remembering the deceased individuals of your family by name Fr. requests that everyone make a special effort to attend these liturgies so that you can pray with the entire parish for your departed loved ones.

Work Day at St. A.
The St Athanasius Maintenance Department (SAMD) has the following WISH List of things for the round of projects that are on the “hit list” for Saturdays February 19 & 26.  If you wish to make a donation to the church for any of these items please note which items your donation should go towards:

  • Cut one set of keys for the parish key box (7 keys / $10.00)
  • Colored tags for key identification (7 tags at $3.00)
  • New Door knobs and mortise hardware for bell tower door ($10.00)
  • Plexiglas for replacement of bell tower windows ($75.00)
  • Hardware for Bell Tower Windows ($25.00)
  • New Light fixtures for the Hall (3 at 40.00 each $120.00)

Parishioners Mike Piland, Bill Ferguson, Kevin Zahn, Joe, Nicholas & Thomas Kupec worked with our volunteers to load, sort and store the lumber. Thanks to Max Beaver who coordinated the truck. This wood will go a long way to support capital improvements at St. Athanasius in 2011. Special thanks to Marcus Loidolt, Mary Kupec and John Danovich for catering lunch for the volunteers. Mike Haluska and the volunteers took time to measure the kitchen as part of the kitchen expansion plans. God grant your servants many years!

We welcome the Confirmation class & other guests of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Zionsville attending our parish for Divine Liturgy today. We are having a luncheon so they have time to socialize with our parishioners and ask questions. See you in St. Mary’s Hall following today’s liturgy.
Christmas Schedule
The Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Birth of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be celebrated on Friday, December 24th at 9:30 PM and Christmas morning, Saturday December 25th, at 10 AM. The following day, on Sunday, December 26th, is the Synaxis of the Theotokos. Liturgy is scheduled for 10 AM. Monday, December 27th is the simple Holy Day for St Stephen – Protomartyr. Liturgy is scheduled for 5 PM. Remember that we’re in the St. Phillips Fast through December 24th.
Christmas Gifts – Here
They’re going fast: books, icons, Christmas cards, scrip, and bake goods at your parish. Do your Christmas shopping at St. Athanasius and invite others to do so too. More scrip cards will be in by the middle of the week. We have nut, poppy seed and many other flavors of potica in stock. Also we have kolachy and pumpkin rolls too. The bakers have been busy making them for who? – YOU!
Stewardship 2010 – 2011
Please return your completed pledge card soon. The annual Eparchial Stewardship Appeal helps support Bishop John’s important programs. Be part of this team effort!
