This fast may be observed voluntarily, partially or in its entirety.

Please remember the sick of the parish and their family & friends. May God’s healing power be upon them.
Parish Prayer
Oh God the benefactor of our souls, Grant that by the prayers of St. Athanasius our parish patron,
We may be blessed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Grant that our community would grow in Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Piety, Knowledge and Fear of the Lord. Grant that our community would grow in Charity, Faith, Prudence, Fortitude, Hope, Justice and Temperance.
Oh Confessor and Bishop Athanasius, you said, “God became man so that man could become like God.” Pray for us that we would grow in Spirit.
Through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos and all the saints, now and forever. Amen.

  • Starting today we will be praying for the parish to grow in the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. Copies of the St. Athanasius parish prayer are in the church and hall. We ask that each person say this prayer daily – many times a day, if you wish. It will be used at the end of each of our liturgical services too. As we grow in the Holy Spirit we will see God’s abundant graces bestowed upon our parish family.
  • The solemn feast day for the Archangel Michael and All Holy Angels is Thursday, November 8. There will be a vigil Divine Liturgy on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. to celebrate the feast.
  • The next ancient Healing Service is Wednesday, November 14th at 7 p.m. Call your friends and encourage them to bring family & acquaintances to this powerful service introduced by Father Sid.
  • There are many work projects to do around the church. If you can make some time to help on a work day please suggest a day so we can schedule it to meet your needs. If you see something to be added to the project list call the rectory. A list will be posted in the hall next week.

November Birthdays
In Father Sidor’s family daughter Laura Gillespie and granddaughter Elizabeth Sidor have birthdays this month. His son, Robert, and wife, Lisa, are celebrating their wedding anniversary. Locally Katherine LaFaver-Cabe, Kevin Zahn and John Danovich have birthdays. God grant your servants peace, health and long life for many blessed years!
2012 – 2013 Stewardship Appeal
This year’s theme is “Preparing for Assembly.” Our parish’s goal is $1,400 – the same as last year. We have $525 pledged so far – more than a third of the way there. The money supports many vital eparchial programs. If you have not received a mailing from the eparchy please contact the rectory so we can supply you with the pledge paperwork. Thank you for your generosity.
Please remember the sick of the parish and their family & friends. May God’s healing power be upon them.

 Food Pantry
Families in need continue to come to our parish for food and hygiene items. It has been over 2 weeks since anyone has made contributions to our pantry. And that sole contributor has been the only one donating for the last few months. We’re running out of most everything. Our pantry needs canned vegetables, fruits, and beans, pasta & sauce, soup, oatmeal, rice, apple sauce, hot chocolate, fruit juice, toothpaste & tooth brushes. We have Marsh scrip cards to buy these items if you shop there. Or check your home pantry for extra food that you can donate. Thanks.
Fund Raising
On Saturday, October 27, 2012 we had our last “summer” farmers market. The next two weekends we will sell our baked goods at high school craft fairs. See the Baked Goods page for details. Want to help sell for a portion of the day? Contact the rectory.
At the church there are freshly-baked rolls, kolachy, pumpkin log and biscotti available. We have books, icons, bracelets, thank you cards and scrip (merchandise) cards too.

  • Today the parish is observing the 40th day after the passing of +Reverend Father Sidney Sidor from this earthly realm. The Divine Liturgy will be immediately followed by the Panachida memorial service. Afterwards we invite everyone to St. Mary’s Hall for a meal served by the parish’s James J O’Brian council of the Knights of Columbus. Come share stories, favorite quotes and the impact +Fr. Sid has had on your life. We all miss him. One way to remember our beloved, holy priest is to take action on some of the points of +Fr Sid’s advice on seeking the path to theosis (becoming god-like.) It could have been something he said in a sermon, in confession, from one of his many classes, a passing remark or in a personal counseling session. By taking action now, you are lifting up his soul through your agreement with his wisdom that he shared with so many people. May God grant your humble priest, +Reverend Father Jaraslav (Sidney) Sidor, blessed repose and eternal memory.

Please consider having a Divine Liturgy said for +Fr. Sid of blessed memory or his family. The traditional stipend is $10 per Liturgy.

  • Bishop John Kudrick has appointed Fr. Innocenti Rossi as our next priest. Fr. Rossi visited the parish this past Monday. He will be moving to Indianapolis on October 1, the solemn feast of the Protection of the Theotokos. We welcome Fr. Rossi and anxiously look forward to him assisting the parishioners get closer to God in this next stage of our parish life. We also thank Very Rev. Thomas Loya for his visit this past Monday. May God grant Fr. Rossi and Fr. Loya many happy and blessed years!

  • The next ancient Healing Service is this Wednesday, September 26th at 7 p.m. Will you or a loved one be the next recipient of God’s healing graces? Invite others to attend this wonderful prayer service.

  • The Indiana Catholic Men’s Conference is scheduled for October 20. For more information visit www.indianacatholicmen.com or call 317-888-0873.
