Events Calendar
- On Thursday, November 17 baking for the holiday season will commence. Rolls, pastries, and cookies are all possibilities. If you can’t come during the work week let us know which Saturdays you’d prefer so we can accommodate your schedule.
- This Saturday, November 19 the parish could use your time & talent to work around the church buildings on our monthly work day. We will perform some winterizing tasks and make some pumpkin puree and pumpkin seeds for future bake goods. If you want to learn how to make puree, bring your own pumpkin and you’ll not only learn how but you’ll have pumpkin puree to take home for your use.
- Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple solemn feast is on Monday the 21st, a week from this Monday. Liturgy will be scheduled for that Monday at 6 PM.
- The next ancient healing service is on Wednesday, November 23 at 7 PM.
2011 – 2012 Stewardship Appeal
We’ve had a good start for the 2011-2012 Stewardship Appeal. We’ve collected $125 of our parish’s goal of $1,400. If you have not received a mailing from the eparchy please contact the rectory so we can supply you with the pledge paperwork. If you would like to be chairperson for the appeal please contact Father Sid.
Phillips Fast
The Typicon states: According to the forty-day tradition, the Phillip’s Fast in preparation for Christmas begins on this Sunday. During the fast it was the custom to observe a strict abstinence on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and a lesser abstinence on Tuesday and Thursday. The fast is observed more strictly from December 10 (in some traditions) or from December 20 (in other traditions), with daily strict abstinence, and a mitigated abstinence (wine & oil) on Saturday and Sunday. This fast may be observed voluntarily, partially or in its entirety.
