Appeals
Bishop John Kudrick is asking all parishes to take a special collection for the Catholic Home Missions during all May Liturgies. The appeal primarily supports those churches unable to offer their people the basic pastoral ministries of word, worship and service without outside help. More information can be found on their website. The Eparchy of Parma has been helped in the past by grants from CHM! For all who can and are able to contribute, the gifts are truly appreciated by our brothers and sisters in Christ.
The 2010/2011 Stewardship Appeal ends in June. We have collected $986 of our $1,400 goal. Please help us reach the goal set by Bishop John. Thank you to those who have supported the effort.
Congratulations!
Marcus Jon Loidolt and Kimetha Gwen Steele received the sacrament of the Mystery of Crowning (marriage) on Saturday, April 30th, 2011. God grant the couple many happy and blessed years!
The parish’s patron, Saint Athanasius the Great, feast day is May 2nd. Happy 31st anniversary to our parish who had their first Divine Liturgy celebrated in the Roman Catholic Cathedral on Meridian St, on April 27, 1980. Founding fathers of the parish, Al Macek and Glen Grabow, two of the four families that started our parish 31 years ago, can share with you many details of the early days – just ask.
You’re Invited!
As part of the Eparchy of Parma’s year-long marriage initiative, Bishop John and the docudrama team cordially invite you to attend a live, interactive marriage presentation. Come to St. Michael church, 557 W. 57th Ave., Merrillville, IN, on Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. and witness the matrimonial journey of Andrew and Kathryn an honorable and good thing, something worth the commitment and effort.
After the presentation, greet the actors and enjoy refreshments at the reception in the parish hall.
