Events Calendar
- The Knights of Columbus decided to postpone their monthly brunch scheduled for today. They are encouraging everyone to visit Fr. Sid in the hospital during his recovery. You can visit him at St. Vincent’s Hospital in room 5804 or contact the rectory for his phone number.
- The Dormition Fast is from Wednesday, August 1 through Tuesday, August 14. The traditional rule is a strict abstinence with mitigations for Saturday & Sunday and the feast of the Transfiguration. The Ruthenian Metropolia has identified this period as a penitential season (Canon 880, § 2). This fast may be observed voluntarily but it is highly recommended for your spiritual & physical wellbeing.
- August 6th is a solemn Holy Day of the Transfiguration of Our Lord on Mount Tabor. It is our tradition to bless first fruits and vegetables on this feast.
- The first Ancient Healing Service in August is scheduled for Wednesday the 8th. Encourage your family & friends to come participate in this powerful prayer service.
- Spiritual Compassion Session for Cancer Families is a new ministry that was originally planned to start in August. Two sessions per month will be held on the First & third Wednesdays of the month. We will keep you posted on the actual start date.
- Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Mariapoch & Teen Campout August 11th and 12th. The theme is “Rejoice, O Steadfast Foundation of Faith.” On Sunday afternoon, Dr. Ray Guarendi will be speaking on “Standing Strong as a Parent”. See the bulletin board in St. Mary’s Hall for more information.
