Events Calendar
- Today, July 14, Sunday liturgies are starting at 8:45, not 10 a.m. This was necessary so that we can continue to have Fr. Kappes be our celebrant on Sunday mornings for the remainder of July. He has other commitments on Sundays. Think of this as setting your liturgical clock ahead by an hour and 15 minutes. So rise and shine earlier next Sunday. You’ll have more time to socialize after liturgy and still get home a lot sooner. Once Fr. Bryan Eyman begins in August the start time can be adjusted again.
- St. Elias’ feast day is Saturday, July 20th. The holy and glorious prophet Elias the Thesbite lived an exemplary life. It is tradition that he was in direct communication with God and knew exactly what to do on this earth. It is through the denial of the temporal world that St. Elijah received the Spiritual Gifts from God to bring a dead boy back to life, to defeat the priests who worshiped Baal and ultimately escaped his death and torture while at the same time choosing his successor when he and his chariot were taken to heaven. Vehicles are blessed on his feast day in commemoration of this event. There will be blessings of vehicles on Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st.
- The Eparchy of Parma is holding a General Assembly on Friday evening through Sunday morning September 20-22. There is a frequently asked questions brochure and a registration form with itinerary available in the hall. More information will follow here at the parish and publicized in The Horizons.
Rectory Renovations
Fr. Bryan Eyman will be moving to Indy by the beginning of August. He has requested a few changes inside the rectory. Plan to meet after this Sunday’s Divine Liturgy to organize a work day or two to make the requested changes; i.e. moving furnishings from one room to the next and a new coat of paint in a few rooms. Susan P. is planning to do the painting but we could perform repairs to a ceiling that has water damage.
