Mission Statement

To grow and share our small Byzantine Catholic Community in both size and spiritual enrichment.  St. Athanasius Byzantine Catholic Church proclaims an old faith, in fact the oldest Christian faith.  However, this faith is deeply fulfilling and profoundly appropriate for the modern person.  This faith will be shared with the entire community of central and southern Indiana by the fullness of our Churches’ liturgical services and its’ spirituality.  This will be accomplished through community outreach offering religious education, classes on theology, spirituality, scripture studies, fundraising, Byzantine counseling with a focus on Scriptural healing of mind, body and soul.

With this in mind, we welcome all!  We pray that you will find, unite with God, our Father and Creator,  Our Lord, Jesus Christ,   Savior and Redeemer and invite the Holy Spirit into your lives that through the Most Holy Trinity you may find peace, comfort and healing of mind, body and soul!
Please join us for coffee & snacks in St. Mary’s Hall after the Ancient Divine Liturgy today!

You did see on the liturgical schedule inside the bulletin that Cheesefare Sunday is just a week away, right? We’d appreciate it if you bring one of your favorite non-meat dishes to the pitch-in brunch next Sunday. If you need suggestions ask in the hall and then write your selection on the sign-up sheet. For those who can’t make a decision today call the rectory this week. Thanks and God bless you for your sharing your talents with everyone.
Great Lent starts on February 15th (also Presidents Day.) Before your personal schedule fills up, mark off every Wednesday and Friday evenings during Lent for attending Presanctified liturgy. We’re the only nearby Catholic Church that celebrates this ancient and beautiful liturgy for 6 weeks in a row. It’s up to you to choose to take advantage of such a special gift of the Eastern Catholic Church. We will continue to have the Ancient Catholic Healing Service on the 2nd Wednesday of March, the 10th.
The 2nd All Souls Saturday is February 27th at 9 a.m. Please attend Feb. 27th and pay homage to God for his blessings on those departed in your family.
The list of maintenance projects for each of the parish buildings is on the re-installed bulletin boards in St. Mary’s Hall. If you see a need that requires attention please add it to the list. Also choose to make time in your busy schedule to volunteer to help on a scheduled work day or on any day that your schedule allows. Together we’ll tackle many of the projects in short order.
