Announcements
Holy Week
Confessions are being heard before each service. You must be in church at least one half hour prior to any service so Father has time after confessions to properly perform his preparations. Confessions after a service are possible too. The liturgies are Monday – Thursday are at 6 PM. Friday’s Reading of the Passion Gospels are at noon. Friday’s Vespers & Burial Service is at 7 PM. Saturday’s Resurrection Matins are at 5 PM. Easter Sunday Liturgy is 10 AM. Please spend extra time with our Lord during Holy Week. If you want the church open during the day when no services are scheduled please call the rectory.
You’re invited!
As part of the Eparchy of Parma’s year-long marriage initiative, Bishop John and the docudrama team cordially invite you to attend a live, interactive marriage presentation. Come to St. Michael church, 557 W. 57th Ave., Merrillville, IN, on Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m. and witness the matrimonial journey of Andrew and Kathryn. “’Till Death Unites Us Forever” is a live, interactive presentation for people of all ages. There will be something for everyone in this presentation, from happily married couples who practice their faith to those considering marriage in the near or even far future. The Byzantine Ritual of Marriage itself – its deep, encompassing wisdom and spiritual richness – will serve as the reservoir our of which the presentation will seek to address the questions, yearning, joys, doubts, hopes, hurts and disappointments that lie in the hearts of people today. The presentation affirms that sacramental marriage is truly an honorable and good thing, something worth the commitment and effort.
After the presentation, greet the actors and enjoy refreshments at the reception in the parish hall.
Baked Goods
Thanks to those who helped on Saturday, April 16, baking Easter Pascha breads & pumpkin rolls. Please call the rectory by Tuesday if you need a Pascha or rolls. We’ll make a few more Wednesday or Thursday.
