Memorial Day – May 26, 2014

Our parish is honoring the great men and women that have given their lives for our country’s freedom by celebrating the Divine liturgy at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day. We invite all to come and pray for them and give thanks to God for our country and those who have, or are actively, protecting our freedoms. May God grant those who gave their lives for us blessed repose and eternal memory!
Following liturgy the parish is having a work day to address the projects on the outside of the church building. “All hands on deck!” We could use you and your family and friends to help with paint preparation, wood repair, etc. We will have lunch with burgers and hot dogs prepared on the grill, watermelon and more. Come join us and share your God-given talents to repair our parish building. Meanwhile enjoy the socialization with others as we perform God’s work. May God bless you.

This Wednesday is Mid-Lent. How is your life changed since the start of the Great Fast? Are you spending more time in your spiritual realm praying? Are you focused on eliminating bad habits? Eastern Traditions
One of the items found in Easter Baskets that you take to church on Easter Sunday is pysanky – those colorful eggs. Pysanky may be a single color egg but more likely they are decorated with a variety of colors using simple shapes and messages or intricate designs with symbolic meanings. Plan to stay after next Sunday’s liturgy and create your own masterpiece. Even if you’ve not learned this unique art form, come and find out how you can make pysanky a beautiful addition for your Easter basket. Invite guests too.
Tell everyone that we have nut rolls and pascha bread for the Easter season. Check out the baked goods page on the website, www.saindy.com, or ask for a brochure while at St. Mary’s Hall.
