Welcome to St. Athanasius!
Whether you’re exploring the Christian East for the first time, searching for a spiritual home, or simply curious about Byzantine Catholic worship, we’re glad you found us! Saint Athanasius the Great welcomes all who seek to encounter Jesus Christ in the beauty and richness of the ancient liturgical tradition.
What to Expect at Divine Liturgy
Our Sunday Divine Liturgy is the heart of our parish life. If you’ve never attended a Byzantine Catholic service before, here’s what you should know:
The service is about 90 minutes long and includes beautiful chant, incense, icons, and a deep sense of reverence. We stand for most of the service (though sitting when you need to is perfectly fine).
You don’t need to know what to do. Simply follow along as you’re able. Our parish family understands that the service can be unfamiliar, and we’re happy to help orient you. Service books are available to follow along.
Come as you are. While some parishioners dress formally, others dress casually. What matters is that you’re here.
Children are very welcome! We love having families worship together. If little ones get restless, feel free to take them to the back or outside if needed – and please don’t worry about noise. We’re a family parish!
Holy Communion
In the Byzantine Catholic Church, Holy Communion is reserved for baptized Catholics and Orthodox Christians who are properly prepared. If you’re not receiving Communion, you’re still fully welcome to participate in the Liturgy through prayer and song. Visitors are always invited to receive blessed bread (antidoron) at the end of the service.

What Makes Us Byzantine Catholic?
We are fully Catholic – in communion with Rome and the Pope – while celebrating the ancient liturgical tradition of Constantinople. Our worship, spirituality, and theology are rooted in the Christian East, offering a different but equally valid expression of the Catholic faith. We welcome Catholics from any tradition, Orthodox Christians, and anyone seeking to grow in relationship with Christ.
