All liturgies from February 1st to February 4th were canceled because of the weather. Indianapolis had ice on Monday into Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon we had about 1″ of sleet on top of the 3/4″ ice. By Wednesday morning the sleet was topped off with more ice. Later on Wednesday we has some snow but it was blown by the heavy wind. Luckily the sun came out on Thursday and Friday but temperatures were below freezing. It took a lot of manual effort by Richard M, Joe K, Bill F, John D and Jim Y to chop through the dual layers of ice. Friday night we had a path cleared from the parking lot to the front of the church. On Saturday Jim Y. shoveled the new Friday/Saturday 4″ snow from the deiced walkways so we were able to celebrate our first Divine Liturgy in 5 days. Thank God for keeping the majority of parishioners and friends safe during the weather. May God grant a quick healing for those who slipped on the ice at their homes.
