The Apostles’ Fast starts after Sunday Vespers [Evening Prayer.]
The fast continues through June 28, the eve of the feast of
Saints Peter and Paul. The Typicon prescribes Mondays,
Wednesdays and Fridays as Days of Strict Fast [No Meat
or Dairy Products], with a mitigated abstinence of Simple
Fast [No Meat] on Tuesday and Thursdays. In the Pittsburgh
Metropolitan Church this is a penitential season. The Fast may
be followed VOLUNTARILY, but it is ENCOURAGED.
