Events Calendar

  • September 8 is a solemn holy day for the Nativity of the Theotokos. The Saturday evening liturgy at 6 p.m. this week will be for the holy day. It does not count as a vigil liturgy for Sunday. Come for liturgy Saturday evening and attend again on Sunday morning. So you get to glorify God on back-to-back days at St. Athanasius this week. This Friday is a day of simple abstinence from meat or equivalent penance in preparation for the holy day.
  • The following week on September 14 is the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, another solemn holy day.
  • The next Wellness class will convene in St. Mary’s Hall on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Participants will watch the DVD on nutrition by Dr Joel Fuhrman and how you can improve your life by using food as medicine.
  • Spiritual Compassion Session for Cancer Families is a new ministry slated for Wednesday at 7 p.m. Two sessions per month will be held on the first & third Wednesdays of the month. Come and see what this new ministry is all about.
  • The ancient Healing Services for September are scheduled for September 12th and 26th.
  • The August birthdays were: Linda Stenger, Matthew Arbuckle, Robert Sidor, and Marge Hays. Birthdays in September are: Richard Medwig, Karen Ybarra, John Elias Russell, John Robert Russell, Jessica Ybarra, and Natalya Yurkus. God grant your servants many happy and blessed years!

Monthly candle sponsors are needed for September. See the inside of the bulletin.

Evangelization and fund-raising were two topics discussed at the parish meeting on August 26. Use the parish’s Mission Statement on the inside of the bulletin as your guide for ideas. Please submit your suggestions to the rectory, Max and/or Father Mike. Thank you.
